Located at a distance of 7 km from Cherrapunji, Nohkalikai Falls is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Meghalaya. Falling from a height of 1100 feet, it is the highest plunge waterfall in India. As it is falling from a great height, it forms a large plunge pool at the bottom. Further, the water of the pool remains green in summer and turns blue in winter. The picturesque and lush green surrounding of this enchanting waterfall leaves a great impact on your mind and soul. A tragic incident also associated with this site as a woman named Ka Likai committed suicide near this fall after the death of her infant daughter.

Elephant Falls is a three-tier waterfall in Meghalaya, which is located in the outskirts of Shillong about a distance of 12 km from the city centre. Surrounded by thick forest and green vegetation the beauty of this waterfall can’t be described in words. Named after a mammoth rock which looks like an image of the elephant but still, it was destroyed by an earthquake. The waterfall looks more majestic and gorgeous during the monsoon season when the water is in its full force. Further, the mesmerising natural beauty of this location makes it small heaven for the nature lover as well as photographers. Overall, the most visited tourist spot in Shillong as well as in the entire Meghalaya and should not be missed.

Located in Sohra near Cherrapunji, Dainthlen Falls is another popular waterfalls in Meghalaya and frequently visited by lots of tourists every year. Famous for its marvellous and gorgeous vista, it serves as an ideal spot for the nature lover as well picnickers. According to the Legend, the waterfall drives its name from a huge serpent (snake), who used to live in a nearby cave. Further, the scenic landscapes and misty floating clouds over it makes it a charming destination in Meghalaya as well as Cherrapunji. In the rainy days, the luckiest one can also get a chance to see a rainbow here.

Seven Sisters Falls is the 4th highest waterfalls in India and among one of the most gorgeous and dangerous waterfalls in Meghalaya. Falling from a height of 1033 feet above sea level, the beautiful waterfall cascade over a limestone cliff of Khasi Hills. It is also popularly known as the Nohsngithiang Falls or Mawsmai Falls.

Surrounded by a lush green forest with a wide range of flora and fauna, it offers many amazing views of nature that ample you to fall in love with this place. The waterfall divided into 7 streams that flow together in a parallel formation and you will be really amazed to watch it.

Situated in West Khasi Hills district near Sangriang village, Langshiang Falls is the tallest waterfalls in Meghalaya. The spectacular waterfall falling from a height of 1150 feet above sea level and very well-known for its picturesque natural beauty and tranquil atmosphere. Created by river Kynshi, the waterfall can be accessed by taking a trekking route through Nongkhnum River Island. Further, Langshiang Falls is also clearly visible from Mawpon village.

Located inside Thangkharang Park, the popular Kynrem waterfall is just 12 km away from the Cherrapunji city centre. The three-tier waterfall falling from a height of 1000 feet and also considered as the 7th highest waterfall in India. Nestled amid lush green forests of Khasi Hills, picturesque landscapes and serene terrains, it is a great site to behold in Meghalaya. There is also a pillar rock (Khoh Ramhah) in the backdrop of the waterfall. One can also take the mesmerizing view of Meghalaya as well as Bangladesh Plains from this point.
