Khimsar Fort

Built by Rao Karamsi Ji, son of Rao Jodha, Khimsar Fort lies amidst arid desert of Thar. This 500 year old piece of architecture was built in 1523 and has been re-innovated into a luxury hotel that makes the visit of the tourist a memorable experience. Legends

Though the construction was finished in 16th century itself, but later a chamber for ladies called “Zenana” was added later on in 18th century. An additional wing was added in the 20th century by Onkar Singh. The fort today stands majestically amidst sand dunes of Rajasthan that add to the grandeur of the fort. A Shiva Temple in the fort premises is a must-watch. Its walls are carved with figures of gods and goddesses. Several pillars have been dedicated to the martyrs of the wars fought for the sake of protection from enemies.
